Copenhagen - Nordic Flair with a cool Vibe

No wonder Copenhagen was voted the world's top city for travelers in 2019.

It has an unerring ability to combine the quaint with the cool; one minute you are strolling along cobbled streets to visit historic buildings and palaces and then suddenly you come across a piece of stunning architecture from the 21st century that is simply breathtaking.

There is cool design at every turn, everything is easily accessible, the food scene is buzzing and everyone speaks English. The Danes take the quality of life seriously and it shows.

Copenhagen is also very green and plans to become the most cycle-friendly city in the world. Apparently over 55% of residents there already cycle to work each day.

We found it comparable to Switzerland in many respects - cleanliness, law-abiding citizens, a superb public transport system to name but a few - but there is a vibe in this city that is truly unique.

Insider tip:

Book a hotel outside the city center, they are more value for money and just a few stops away with the metro. We recommend the Zoku Hotel.

Buy a cheap 2 or 3 day metro pass to bring you everywhere you could wish.

The canal tour down by Nyhaven is a great way of discovering the city and its key attractions at a leisurely pace.

Rosenborg Castle is worth a visit to learn about Denmark's monarchy and royal past.
